Easter Weekend 2013

Sarurday Morning:

Henry and I went down to Esther Short Park to participate in the Easter egg hunt the market was sponsoring. We met our friends, the Deatherage's down there. I can't believe how many people were there for it! I told Henry all he had to do was get one egg. He ended up getting two and immediately after we were done brought them up to Allison to show her. We walked around the VERY crouded market after ther egg hunt and then said good bye to our friends. On our way back to the car, I decided it was too nice of a day to go home. So we walked around down town and ended up at the library. We played and read books. Henry soaked through everything while we were there and I didn't have any extra clothes with me, thankfully I had brought a diaper with us though...so he walked around looking like a welfare baby. ;)

Saturday Afternoon:

We went over to my parents house to have lunch and an Easter egg hunt. Henry got to help Grandma and Papa hide the Easter Eggs! The food was delicious!  Raj was glad I brought him a plate of left-overs to have for dinner when he arrived home from work. My parents spoil the grandkids on Easter. (And I love that they do!) The eggs are filled with candy and money. They save all their change from the year and use that to fill the eggs. Knowing this ahead of time....we practiced with Henry all week on picking up eggs...we gotta get his college tuition savings started! Henry did well. He liked the eggs that when he shook made noise...the money eggs. He would pick one up, shake it and then get distracted....but he did end up with $35! I'm going to open him a bank accound this week for his loot. Thanks Grandma and Papa!

Sunday Morning:

I woke up with a migraine, Raj had to work, and I was dreading getting up with Henry, because my headache wasn't gone yet. Before Raj left for work, he secured the living room so he could play and got Henry some milk. I continued to lay down trying to get rid of my headache. He played for about 30 minutes before he came looking for me. He cried when he found me. I pulled him into bed with me. He laid on my chest and I rubbed his back. Before I knew it, he had fallen asleep. He hasn't done that since he was an infant. We slept for an hour and a half that way. It felt so good and we were both in good moods when we woke up.

Sunday Evening:

Henry and I played all day. He loved going outside and playing in the yard. He got into Ollie's water bowl and got all wet and muddy. When Raj got home from work, we went for an evening walk. It was another beautiful night. We could really get used to these 70 degree days we've been having! After our walk, Henry finally opened his Easter basket. He got 3 cars, a silly moveable snake, and a cone that you stack differnt size rings on. I also let Henry have one piece of his candy from his Easter egg hunt. He picked a nestles crunch bar and loved it!

Family Friday

Friday was spent with our family. It was busy, but so much fun. Maddox came over for a few hours to play with Henry while his mommy got a pedicure. We then headed to the vet to get a lump checked on Ollie. Luckily it's just a fatty tumor and nothing serious.

After Maddox left, we went on a walk. We had to get the wheels on the stroller pumped up, so we first went to ARCO. After that we walked over to Harney Elementary to play on the play ground. On our way we passed the restaurant called the Igloo. We've never been by it when it was open, so we stopped in and grabbed lunch to have a picnic at the park. It was good food. My mom said she used to go there when she was a kid. Crazy! After our picnic and playing at the park and soaking up the sun, we walked around for another hour or so. It was so nice out. Henry fell asleep on our way home. We were all pretty tired. We had been gone for almost 3 hours!

Upon getting home we checked the mail and to our surprise we received an Easter package from Susan Harris. We got some beautiful ceramic elephants. I'm going to use them as candle holders. Thank you Susan for thinking of us.

We had planned a date night for the evening, so we quickly got ready and Raj's Mom and Aunt came over to watch Henry. We went and saw a movie, Life of Pi in 3d. It was very good!

New Park

Today we explored a new park. It's in our neighborhood and I pass it all the time, but have never been there, until today. The park is just off of Mill Plain and Divine and called St. Helens Park. It is a neat little park with a great walking path all around it. I took Henry here today around 4pm. He was really restless in the house and today was so beautiful I couldn't NOT go to a park. It was 69 degrees and beautiful!

After we did a few laps around the park for some exercise, I let Henry out of the stroller to go exploring. He had a great time. He climbed up the slide, and slid back down it, picked up handfuls upon handfuls of bark chips and put them inside any hole he could find on the play equipment, and he picked dandelions. I love that right now if he is walking somewhere that is uneven, or he has to go up/down steps he puts his hand up and goes "eehhh". And then grabs my finger. (Melt.my.heart!) I've been saying hand every time he does it to try and teach him another body part, also I want him to understand when we are in parking lots or the street he needs to hold my hand. I am slightly nervous for this summer with his independence and safety. Currently Henry can point to his head, belly, hand, toes and foot. :) And we are so very close to him saying ball...currently it comes out "ba".
