Morning play time

Each morning after breakfast we get on the floor and play until snack time. Whatever Henry wants to get out and play with we play with. By the time its time for snack the living room is trashed with toys...but we've had fun so I don't care. Today Henry brought me several books to read. He happily sat in my lap while I read them to him. We got out the tunnel and crawled through, finding toys along the way. This was Allison's first time with the tunnel. She didn't mind sitting on the outside of it and looking in, or laying on her back inside it, but was not a fan of being on her tummy inside it. We played with puzzles and Henry got several of the pieces in the right spot. We played with a maraca and shook it to music. We talked about not pulling girls hair...several times....We sang songs, played with nesting blocks, stuck the window clings on the window several times, and he got into a magazine and ripped all the pages out of it then handed the pages to allison...so I guess we did some sharing. LOL. We also practiced our transitional poses with Allison, sitting/turning sideways, hands and knees, and getting back up. It was a busy morning, but so much fun!

Spring clean up: Front yard

It was so beautiful today, I couldn't wait to get outside and do some much needed clean up in our front yard. The hedges in particular had not been trimmed for almost 2 years...I blame it on being pregnant...and then not wanting to do it when I had a little one last year. ;) We got the flower beds cleaned out, roses trimmed, hedges trimmed, walkway swept, and weeds pulled. There is still more to do...it never really stops...but we felt good with the progress we made today. Especially since Henry decided he only needed a short nap this afternoon and so was outside "helping" us during most of it.

For the first little bit, Henry was fine playing in his port-a-crib with some toys and eating some fishy crackers...but then he decided he needed to be out! I haven't let Henry be outside to just explore since being mobile, so this was really his first time in the front yard. He explored every inch of our yard! He even managed to walk up our steep driveway without assistance. He loved the solar lights and took apart several of them. ;( He surprised me when he would fall and his hands would get dirty...he would shake them in the air and then carry on. He was pretty dirty by the time I brought him inside to have dinner...and was really tired. He went to bed at 7:30 tonight! (That's about an hour early for him.)

It's the little things....

Today while I was feeding Allison her snack, Henry came up to us and wanted what she was having. So I got a cup for him and put a few snacks in it. This is nothing new, he typically comes up to anyone eating and wants some. Lately though, I've been giving him snacks in cups instead of just giving him a few in his hands. When I give him a cup he will sit down with his cup...sometimes he eats them very well, sometimes he spills them and eats off the floor, and sometimes Ollie beats him too it and he doesn't get any snack...he loves it when Ollie eats his food. He laughs and hands him treats. :) Today I realized he was eating his snacks out of his cup while walking around the kitchen. Just simply walking around, stopping to have a snack, and then moving on. He was multi-tasking...walking, holding a cup, eating a snack, squatting, looking out the window.... I'm not sure why, but all of the sudden I was so proud of my little baby boy. And so proud to be his Momma. How did he get so grown up that he can do these things...simultaneously....It's the little every day moments that make me so thankful I am able to stay home with Henry!

Play time

Yesterday I decorated for Easter. Two decorations I put out specifically for Henry to play with. One was a basket of painted wooden eggs, and the other was window clings shaped as eggs. I knew he would love the wooden eggs, but had no idea the window clings would be such a hit! He played with these two items last night for over an hour and then after we got P.J.'s on played again for almost 30 minutes. Love it when I find items that keep his attention! Also Henry has figured out how to climb the top of the couch cushions...he loves to sit up on the top of the couch...ironically just like Ollie does. He also likes to stand on the window ledge and lean against the couch as he is playing with the window clings.
