Spring Break Day 2: Fort Vancouver

Today we took a field trip to the Fort at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. We got to visit with the blacksmith who showed us how to make the fire bigger with a bellow, showed us how a beaver trap works, and showed us old nails that were recovered during the archeological digs at the fort. We also visited the wood workers shop, the jail, the fur trade shop, and the tower. The tower was Devin's favorite part of the fort. I carried both babies up the tower to see the view. (It was quite a work out). After the fort, we had a picnic lunch on the grounds. We had fun playing with a ball after lunch.

Spring Break Day 1: Zoo Trip

My Sister Mandy and her kids met us at the zoo today. We all had a blast! My favorite part was seeing the new baby elephant! Another cool thing we saw were hyenas eating a carcass. We also took the train ride which all the kids loved. Allison and Henry kept jumping up and down while I sang chug-a-chug-a-chug-a-choo-choo! The kids had fun putting their zoo keys into the locks to hear about the various animals. Ammon and Devin had fun playing together. At lunch time Calvin had fun spinning the kids around in circles until they all fell down dizzy including himself, as I was trying to get a picture of Allison, Mali'ea tried to pick up Allison by her head...she was fine and surprisingly didn't cry (sorry Julyla!)...and the kids played chase while pretending they were zombies. Mali'ea walked almost the entire time and held onto the handle of my stroller. Everyone got a treat after we were done. Devin chose an icee. After we got home and put the babies to sleep, I made Devin a journal to record what we did today. He wrote a story and drew pictures of what he saw at the zoo. He wasn't to thrilled about it, but once he got going on it had fun.
